Barry grew up in the nearby suburbs and graduated with a BA, Psychology in 1995 from the University of Delaware.  He moved to Philadelphia in 1997 and worked in a vocational rehabilitation program for adults with developmental disabilities.  After budget cuts to social programs in 2001, Barry enrolled in the M.Ed. Organizational Development program at Temple University.  He graduated in 2004 and quickly learned that office and consulting work was not for him.  In 2007, Barry quit his job to work on his own house built in 1907 and to take care of his children.

 

In 2008 he had a 2yr old daughter, a newborn daughter, a M.Ed. in Organizational Development, no job, and terrible history of keeping jobs. He had a choice to make. He could stay home with his 2 young girls or create a career that would stick.  Today, he delicately balances the home improvement business and family life while taking care of both.  Outside of work and family he is a biker, cook, gardener, and photographer.  You can see his photos on Instagram, and, if you are lucky, taste his salsa with home grown ingredients.
